Introduction

June 10, 2021

I plan to use this website as a way to introduce my books to potential readers and promote conversations about my writing. I’ll start by introducing myself.

I’ve always enjoyed telling stories. I began writing them down in sixth grade, which would have been 1962 or 1963. That first effort concerned a space station knocked out of its orbit and the attempt to rescue it. Curiously, given we were at the height of the Cold War, the rescue mission was a joint American and Russian effort. I guess that even at that age I looked for different approaches to my stories. I continued to write other pieces and shared them with classes or writer’s groups.

My first serious effort at writing was “The Pig War – an Alternate History” an early version of which appeared on the Naval Fiction Board, now republished on this site. That blog entry includes links to the real event. Few outside Washington State (and few that live here) know anything about this obscure border dispute that almost propelled the United States and the United Kingdom into war. That short story forms the foundation for the story told in my “Alternate History of America” trilogy, now available on Amazon.

You may have noticed a gap between my early efforts and first publication. This is the result of many events, notably a fifteen-year association with a religious cult that discouraged individualism and creativity. That association provided the inspiration for “Armageddon’s Disciples” which I expect to publish this summer. I will post more information soon.

I hope you enjoy my books.
